Who I'm Following on Twitter.

Today in class, we asked a very important question regarding the twitterverse: Who are you following?

Tweets                                                                                     45m

News-

  • WEWS News Channel 5
  • The Plain Dealer
  • BBC News (World)
  • Reuters Top News
  • The Morning Call
Why?: It always pays off to be well informed on current local, national and worldwide events.

Political

  • Barack Obama
  • Obama 2012
  • The Democrats
  • Truth Team
  • Mitt Romney
Seeing how this is one of the most important elections in the history of this nation, it is definitely wise to follow both candidates to see what their party's have to say. I must admit I am a little biased.

Celebs-

  • Katt Williams
  • Aries Spears
  • Affion Crockett
  • Kanye West
  • Sean Carter (Jay-Z)
  • Diddy
I chose these comedians/musicians/businessmen because these are people who either really make me laugh, or are a source of inspiration. Jay -Z, Kanye West, and Diddy are 3 of the greatest music and business talents ever to put out a song, and I feel that what they have to say is important. Katt Williams, Aries Spears and Affion Crockett will bring my news feed a quick laugh during my day.

Nonprofits-

  • The United Way
  • Salvation Army
  • SickKidsGlobal
  • Non-Profit Daily
  • The Doe Fund
These are all causes I believe in supporting.

Community Stuff:

  • Lehigh Valley Events
  • The Patriot League
  • Lehigh Valley EDC
  • The Brown and White
  • Lehigh U News
It helps to know what is going on in your community. As a Lehigh Valley Resident and Lehigh University student, Lehigh Valley Events

Week recap in ENT195

If it is not obvious by my generic template/picture usage and writing style, I am new to blogging and everything that comes with it. For the longest, I felt like blogs were for people who needed to an online diary,  people who needed to complain, and weird people with A LOT of time on their hands. As my Entrepreneurship 195 class progresses, I am learning the depths of my initial ignorance.

Display

After looking at everyone's blogs, I was more than impressed with the structure and display of my classmates blogs. The different colors, designs and fonts were great to look at; the conversations were well thought out and communicated. Even so much as the 'About me' sections were so much better than I expected! Then I realized who I was comparing everyone else to - myself. Do not get me wrong, all the blogs were great; but looking at the blogs was a wake up call to step up my own game.

Content
It is somewhat easy to tell which ones were the experienced bloggers by their tone, and fluidity of their posts. I found that the different backgrounds, pictures and colors captivated my attention, almost instinctively.  Most importantly, my classmates opinions on the comparisons of Facebook and Twitter. Due to the fact that I am also new to Twitter (@solost195), I had to utilize my classmates to get some facts on the social media giant.

One More Thing!
*Special Thanks to all my classmates for demonstrating what a good blog looks like. My blog would definitely look like a Microsoft Word essay if it weren't for you all.*

Facebook v. Twitter: Round 1

Facebook v. Twitter: Round 1

In case you have been living under a rock or anything of that nature, social networking is the most recent and convenient way of reaching out to mass numbers of people. The #1 and #2 social media sites, Facebook and Twitter (source: http://www.ebizmba.com/articles/social-networking-websites) are the most popular and influential in the way people connect to each other. Which one is right for you?

For those of us who range from slightly introverted to full blown social media butterflies, Facebook might be the site for you. Facebook's conceptual set up are just like you could imagine: a place where people can put up pictures of themselves and create a visual identity that everyone can see. In other words, Facebook is a place that other people can use to identify and learn about another individual, then connect to that person should they know (or want to know) that person. The first aspect that feeds into Facebook's social prowess is it's Timeline Interface. It is designed to show one's activities on Facebook since one has joined. Also, it is broken down by year, making it much more organized for yourself and others to go through your Facebook past.  You can post statuses about what ever comes to mind, pictures of your special events and latest night out and even play games with your best friend from back home.

Twitter on the other hand  seems to be more for the more extraverted types. For one, you must find friends that care about you enough to hear you complain about your life (joke). However, it is true that you must find friends and ask them to follow you. Also, Twitter allows people to connect with celebrities on a much deeper level, due to the fact that twitter is 'cool'. A lot of celebrities followed ashton kutchers lead with Twitter, and I'm just learning about it, so I struggle to elaborate further on this :)

After finally learning enough about blogs to create one, I can finally do my post about the Zoellner Arts Center.

I believe that the Zoellner arts page received a change in direction and oversight July 9, 2012. I feel like there is a change of tone; one that seems lighter and more crowd oriented. On the page, Zoellner's management staff began to post humorous and light status post that would attract attention to the page. In addition to the status updates and posts, pictures of the crowd at events show up. This probably engage the crowd even more, due to the fact that they may see themselves and other consumers.
